Local Government in WGA
This page is mainly aimed at local government practitioners, but
should be useful for anybody interested in the extension of WGA
to include local government.
The Department for Communities and Local Government's Local
Government Finance Statistical Forms page holds the WGA Return
Form itself, Guidance Notes and a document outlining 2004/05 Dry
Run Feedback & the 2005/06 process.
Further guidance and information can be accessed from the Department
for Communities and Local Government's Local
Government Finance Whole of Government Accounts page.
For specific queries on English local government issues relating
to WGA, please contact wga.returns@communities.gsi.gov.uk
at DCLG.
The inclusion of local government in WGA in Wales, Scotland and
Northern Ireland will be the responsibility of the devolved administrations.
Most of the information on this page applies to English local authorities
but we have tried to include useful information for authorities
across the UK. We will try to put links to guidance from devolved
administrations on this page as they issue it.
Guidance to Local Authorities on WGA
A letter has been sent to
all Finance Directors of English Local Authorities setting out the
approach we are taking to including local government in WGA.
The list of English, Scottish, Welsh & Northern Irish local
authorities and NHS Trusts we currently intend to include in WGA
is available from the CPID page.
for the Welsh Local Government Data Unit website.
(Designation of local authorities in Scotland and Northern Ireland
is for the Scottish Executive and Northern Ireland Executive. We
currently expect all Scottish Councils, Police and Fire Joint Boards
and all Northern Ireland District Councils to be included in WGA.)
